Local Specialty Coffee from North Queensland
We’re introducing a locally grown coffee from Jack Murat’s Farm in Mareeba, Queensland. Unlike the high-altitude coffees we typically source from all over the world, this coffee is produced at a lower altitude but with refined techniques and updated equipment.
Jack’s team has been working on improving their production methods, which has led to a coffee that meets specialty standards. Farms in this region haven’t traditionally been known for high-grade coffee production, but recent developments are changing that.
It’s incredibly exciting to see local growers taking coffee to the next level, and we see great potential.
We are currently experimenting with this coffee to better understand its potential within our offerings. While its flavor profile differs from our usual selection of high-altitude coffees, we’re open to stocking it if there is sufficient demand. Your feedback is essential in helping us make informed choices that align with our customers’ preferences. Please fill out the form to let us know your thoughts on this coffee.
HOW DO I BREW THIS COFFEE?
Because this coffee has a light body, you will need to use a minimum of 20gms in your dose.
If you are used to our House Blend, or any of our blends, you might need to experiement a bit before you achieve the desired outcome.
WHAT SHOULD IT TASTE LIKE
Black: fruity with citrus notes.
White: chocoalte and caramel aftertaste. Light and a little nutty in the beggining.
TIPS TO BREW IT
Espresso methods (coffee machine / stove top)
It’s extremely important that the coffee is not ground too coarse. If the extraction time is too quick, your coffee won’t, not only lack body, it will also taste like you are chewing a coffee bean and taking a sip of water straight after. Jokes aside, play with the grind settings.
Filter (pour over)
Filter methods are know for a tea-like feel. This coffee will suit this method provided you don’t add milk to it. So go ahead and enjoy black with it’s citrusy notes. You might get hooked.
Plunger (french press)
You could grind it a bit finer than usual for this method and it will provide a bigger body.
